Just to wet your appetite! Brum' Nov 10

Richard's been busy putting some video clips on the site, just to wet your appetite for Tarab 10 November Birmingham www.pedralta.com

Not long to go now. The San Fransisco contingent are squeezing cossies into bags as I write. Phil and Richard are putting the finishing touches to some great digital back projections This is World Fusion and Tribal Bellydance like you've never seen before! Phil Thornton (yes the guy who wrote that tribal bellydance classic Derwood Green) will be performing live.

Amanda Tivey, our latest Pedralta Dance member will be making her debut performance (no pressure Amanda!)

This is a great opportunity to see the international troupe with two of the guys from the US. (Sam Hasthorpe was scarfed by Rachel Brice but we're not bitter! We'll get her back!)

Come along and join us for what promises to be a night to remember. Better still join us for dinner afterwards.
Your thoughts on Broad Street

There was once a time I wasn't confident enough to go there, I thought it was for the rich and the beautiful. Then I tried it and became a regular up there. Now I wonder why I thought it was some sort of elite place at all, its full of rough necks! I still don't mind the odd night up there, but its beginning to become hard work. The dress codes make it almost twice as hard for men to get in anywhere, and the drink prices are unreasonable.

Maybe i'm not drinking enough!?

Love football? Hate football?

We can't ingore it, the world cup is her, and the only way you can get away from it is by sitting in a field with your hands over your ears and your eyes closed.

So who hates it, who loves it?

I know I am not in my own in the fact that football doesn't especially excite me, but there is some thing about the world cup that makes me want to stand up, put my hand on my heart, and thank god for this green and pleasant land we live on. I know our boys are hugely over rated each year, and we may not be in it for long, but I will be watching it for as long as they are!

What will you be doing this year?

I personally quite enjoy new years eve and all the partying that is involved. I have had some good nights out, and some disappointing ones. Still have no idea what I will be doing to celebrate this year.

Last year was a house party, are these becoming more popular?

A no smoking ban in all the pubs, bars and restaurants in Birmingham... what do YOU think about it?? Its gonna happen people, its just a matter of when.

FOR: This would encourage smokers to give up and make it a more pleasant environment for all. No-one would have to tolerate secondary smoking, and no-one would come home smelling like an ashtray!

AGAINST: Its a free world, surely we have a right to smoke when and where we want. Most bars sand restaurants have a non-smoking area and we don't go telling THEM what they can and can't do!

Hi there people, I have been away for a couple of weeks. Not from home, just from here, so my apologies. I try to keep up, but you know how it is. Anyway, I have added some new photos to the birmingham tribe, all taken by myself. They're a couple of years old, so I really need to dust of my beloved camera and get out to take some more, but if anyone else has any shots to sell this great city to everyone on tribe then please feel free to upload them. It would mean so much more if they were your own too. Its not a competition, so don't worry about quality.

When I finally get my family over to the UK (probably in 2-3 years), we have several destinations in mind. Visiting a friend in Norwich, Bath, touristy stuff in London (e.g., the Tower), heading up North to see Hadrian's Wall, Cambridge.

Birmingham is kind of in the middle of all those places. At the risk of exposing my ignorance, are there interesting historical sites there as well?

Thanks, Genghis

Im sure most people like a bit of stand up comedy once in a while, and one man who nearly made me wet myself last year was Ross Noble. After a fairly huge tour of Australia and New Zealand he is back in the UK an performing at the Alexandra theatre at the end of sept, beginning of oct. I recomment checking him out, very funny indeed.

Ok, what the hell was that in Kings Heath today?

I got totally stuck in a "whirlwind" (sorry, bad pun) of people milling around the High Street in a confused state, no buses going to town and then heard that my chap saw the roof thrown off at work!!!

I don't think we're in Kansas anymore *clutches small smelly dog to chest*

So come on Brummies let's hear your stories from last Saturday night (09/07).

Personally I was evacuated (sic) from three different bars and got to see the mass herding of folks off Broad Street by the very patient and concerned Police.

Thank god I'd started out sometime in the late afternoon otherwise my night would of been ruined. As it was my friends and I finally ended up in an excellent chinese restaurant up in St Paul's Square (and if you're local you know who I'm talking about, if you're local and you don't then shame on you) and stuffed our faces before my mates headed home and I headed to a bar/club where I was evacuated from about half an hour after getting in.

So how about you guys?

Happy Summer everyone--as a Canadian, we have to take full advantage of the summer sun because, before you know it, it'll be time to build the igloo again.

I'm Michael, and I'm part of a team of people spearheading what is a new renaissance.

the Touch the Sun Network is a Planetary Network of Artists, Healers, and forward thinkers/ box burners.

We have 12 "councils" set up in 5 different countries thus far. Each council is intended to be a meeting place for art, spirituality, and philosophy to intermingle, a support network for artists, and a means of exploring collaboration between artistic and spiritual disciplines, and ideas.

At present, councils are in San Diego, Los Angeles, Portland, Ashland, Vancouver, Austin, New York City, Toronto, Tampa Bay, Belfast, Amsterdam, as well as one for Nomadic Poets based in Paris, and one for Native north American art, wisdom and culture based in San Fran...

We are very interested in having folks in the UK and elsewhere
be added to this network--so, if there is anyone here who might be interested--an individual, a member of an existing production collective, an artist or healer of any discipline who sees the need for a global support network for art, spirituality and mysticism, and ideas, please let me know, and I'll let you know how to set up a council in your area.

Question Moseley Time

I'm writing to let you know about an event coming up this very Thursday at the CDT building (Community Development Trust) in Moseley Village at 7.30pm.

The event is called Question Moseley Time - a fairly self explanatory title to anyone who has watched the long running BBC1 classic of topical debate.

I feel this is an exciting chance for members of Moseley and the wider community to air views and ask questions on any topic from the very local such as the colour of the new Ent statue proposed for the Village Green, the status of the Centre 13 Commuity Centre, through National or European matters and beyond.

This year's panel will include Lynne Jones MP (Labour), Councilors Martin Mullaney (Lib Dem) and John Alden (Conservative), Stu Masters (Green), Fiona Adams (Moseley Society), Kim Monaghan (Moseley Warden) and will be chaired as last year by Chris Crean.

Last year's event was informative and entertaining and we hope this year's will too. If we can get a good event under our belts this time around, perhaps we have something that can grow into an annual event which will last over time and continue to spread its wings, embracing ever more of our community.

Many thanks for your time in reading this far - hope you can make it thursday.

Hi everyone

some friends of mine are running a new night in Birmingham, for all those who like dancing, great music, great company and more.

Theres some info below and Ive posted copies of the flyers in the photos section.

maybe see some of you there?

Rich

Hoping your all enjoying this glorious sunshine, and many thanx to all that got down to Inter-Course outings over the last month at the Boiler Rooms and Forme. We donated £75 to Oxfam, thanx for the positive feedback for the cds, and if u had your portrait taken on that night, then u can pick up your print this saturday.

This *Saturday June 11th @ Forme* (Thorpe St, opp. Hippodrome stage door) in Birmingham, we are (albeit unexpectedly) joined by the legendary *808 State*!!

*Hi 8* will also be headlining, and there will be residents vs sets with Boogie Dave taking on the masters of scratch The *Sexual All Stars*, whilst Marc Reck will be dropping *Bill Hicks*, alongside the live percussion of *Rhythm Revolution*, with Video mixing from Jaw Media, and Massage from Ali Mack.

To see all this for *£3*, you must email us back so we can add you to the £3 list, otherwise the venue are charging £7/8 in, due to their double booking of the night.

As we finish at around 2/2.30am , we have also sorted out cut price tickets to go and see the *Stanton Warriors* and *Lee Coombs* at the Medicine Bar @ Stupid Underground til 5am. Tickets are £4 in, instead of £12, though are only valid for entry between 2 and 2.45am, and can be bought in advance, by emailing us, or on the night.

Hope to see u there... Inter-Course x.

Can i draw the groups attention to the fact that the Internationally renowned performance art festival Fierce has just begun in Birmingham?

One of the first events involves a Belgian artist who is spending a week in a giant birds nest on the rotunda (!)

theres many more challenging, exotic, erotic and fun events to come.

see http://www.fiercetv.co.uk/ for more info

thanks
